Ona E. Fish

Ona E. Fish, age 92, of Linton, passed away at 6:45 A.M. Mon., June 4, 2012, at his residence. He was born Sept. 11, 1919, in Scotland, the son of Marion & Ethia (Bough) Fish.

He worked for thirty-seven years for Indiana Bell Telephone as a lineman, installer/repairman, & switchman, retiring in 1983. He formerly attended Glenburn United Methodist Church & was a member of Elks Club #866 & American Legion Post #22, all of Linton. He was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was an avid horseman & a founding member of the Linton Saddle Club, coached & was active in little league baseball & softball, & enjoyed & supported Linton athletics. He was an Army veteran of WW II & served in the Pacific.

Ona is survived by two sons, Doug (Beverly) Fish & Rick (Patty) Fish, both of Linton, a brother, William “Minner” Fish of Linton, seven grandchildren, David Fish of Linton, Logan (Gina) Fish of Linton, Tim Fish of Franklin, Melissa (Chuck) Wells of Linton, Carli (Nate) Pearson of Minneapolis, MN, & Kirsten Fish & Kaitlin Fish, both of Chicago, IL, & seven great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Olivia, J. D., Zackary, Ashlyn, Liv, & Colin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Wilma Ruth (Gabbard) Fish, Sept. 5, 1995, & a brother, Asa Fish.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, June 8, 2012, at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, Rev.'s Jim Cooper & Max Slough officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Linton American Legion Post #22 will conduct military graveside services.

Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. Thurs. & at 9 A.M. Friday until the hour of the service.

Memorial contributions can be made to the new Linton ball diamonds or the Linton Athletic Dept. through the funeral home.
