Myron G. Monson, 82, Harwood, ND, died Monday, October 5, 2009 in Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo, ND.
Myron was born May 7, 1927 in Fargo, ND to Victor and Agnes (Turnbull) Monson. He was raised at Harwood on the family farm. Myron attended schools at Harwood and Moorhead, MN. He married Joyce Gunderson on October 2, 1953 in Enderlin, ND. They operated the family centennial farm at Harwood. Myron retired in 1986, but continued to be involved in the farming operation.
Myron enjoyed hunting, skiing, golfing, fishing, bowling, photography, singing in the church choir, and playing in the El Zagel Shrine Band. Flying was his greatest love. He became a licensed pilot at age 56 and loved flying his small plane around the midwest with anyone who would ride along.
He is survived by his wife Joyce; two sons, Bruce (Nancy), Prior Lake, MN, Keith (Jann), Harwood, ND; daughter Janet (Mark) France, Fargo, ND; seven grandchildren, Kimberly, Nick, Katie, Staci, Olivia, Hannah and Molly.
Myron was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Eloise and grandson Eric.
Visitation: Thursday, October 8, 2009, from 5 to 7 at West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo, with a prayer service at 7.
Funeral: Friday at 11 in the Maple Sheyenne Lutheran Church, Harwood, ND.
Burial: Maple Sheyenne Cemetery.
