| | | Austin W. Franklin 86, of Spencer passed away Tuesday January 24, at the Washington nursing Center in Washington, Indiana.
Austin was born September 19, 1919 in Spencer to Robert B. and Annie (Hagood) Franklin.
He was a farmer, school bus driver and had worked at Wetterau. He was a veteran of the US Army, member of the Spencer United Methodist Church and a memeber of the Big Red Winnies R.V. Club.
Suvivors include daughter Debbie Narey and husband Phil Rogers, of Ellettsville, one son Dennis and wife Peggy Franklin, of Bloomington, two brothers Olice “Bud” Franklin of Delaware and Ernest “Bill” Franklin of Spencer, five grandchildren, five step grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren, two daughters-in-law, Marsha Franklin of Spencer, and Cynthia Franklin Politano of Connecticut.
Austin was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen S. (Hoot) Franklin, two sons Dwight Franklin and John Franklin, two brothers Louis “Jeff” Franklin and Bobby Franklin, and one sister Olive Stevens.
Funeral services will be Friday January 27, at 2:00 P.M. at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Cain officiating, burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday January 26, from 4:00P.M. until 8:00P.M. and Friday 8:30 AM until service time
Military services will be conducted by the Spencer American Legion and V.F.W.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzhiemer’s Association in care of the funeral home.
