| | | John J. Carpenter, Sr. 85 of Spencer, passed away Monday, May 14, 2007 at the Select Specialty Unit, in Bloomington Hospital. John was born May 2, 1921 in Liberal, Kansas to Claude and Mildred (McAllister) Carpenter. He graduated from Spencer, High School in 1939, and in 1986 retired from J. L. Simons Contruction Company, as a supervisor, in Decatur, Illinois. John attended the House of Prayer church in Ellettsville, Indiana, and belonged to the Spencer Masonic Lodge. He is survived by two sons, John Carpenter, Jr., of Brazil, Indiana, Nick Carpenter of Spencer, one daughter Sheryll “Shae”, husband Bob Rosenberger, of Bloomington, Indiana, one brother, Max Carpenter, one sister, Vonnie Carpenter, his companion, Judy Hutson, all of Spencer, ten grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by both parents, his wife Jacqueline “Jackie” (Dyar), one brother, Vey Carpenter, and one sister, Bettie MacMorran. Funeral services will be 10:00a.m., Friday, May 18, 2007 at the West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer, with visitation 4:00p.m. until 8:00p.m., Thursday, May 17, with a Masonic Lodge Service at 7:30p.m.. Burial will be in Chambersville, Cemetery.
