Lavon "Vonnie" Carpenter, 82, of Spencer, passed away March 22, 2009 at Bloomington Hospital. She was born July 20, 1926 in Liberal, Kansas to Claude and Mildred "Mernie" (McAlister) Carpenter. Vonnie worked at Metropolitan Printing in Bloomington. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Muncie and attended the Owen Valley Christian Fellowship.
Ms Carpenter is survived by a daughter, Shelley (Jim) Brannon of Ft. Wayne, a son, Robert M. Carpenter of North Carolina, a brother Max (Penny) Carpenter of Spencer, and two grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by a sister Bettie MacMorran and two brothers John Carpenter and Vey Carpenter.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, March 24,2009 at Chambersville Cemetery in Owen County. Terrie MacMorran will speak. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the gravesite.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
