He was born December 7, 1924 in Owen County to Johnnie and Goldie (Bruner) Freeman. Joseph was a supervisor at Woolery Stone Mill in Bloomington for 43 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the North Washington St. Church of Christ and a former member of Stoneworker’s Union, Local 89. Mr. Freeman is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lavern (Wood) Freeman; two sons, Gary (Leanna) Freeman and Dennis (Diana) Freeman all of Spencer; a daughter-in-law, Sue Freeman-Clay of Ft. Wayne; five brothers, Sammy Freeman of Spencer, Donald Freeman of Ellettsville, Johnnie Freeman, Jr. of Spencer, Leon Freeman of Hendricksville, and Ira Freeman of Spencer; four sisters, Nancy Fulk and Martha Hamm both of Spencer, Rosa Hendricks of Bloomington,and Barbara McQueen of Bloomfield; six grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a son Roger Freeman, a brother, Russell Freeman, a sister Lois Freeman and a grandchild. Funeral services will be 1 pm, Monday, July 20 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Bro. Walter Hunter will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. Friends may call Sunday, 2-6 pm, and Monday, 10 am until service time. Memorial donations may be made to Bloomington Hospice.
