Richard “Dick” R. Coffman, of Spencer, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2009 at The Residence at McCormick’s Creek. He was born in Richmond, Indiana on July 3, 1941 to Cecil and Edna ( Quante) Coffman. Dick graduated in 1959 from Brownville High School. He worked at Rostone in Spencer until its closing and then went to Whitestone for 22 years in the maintenance department, retiring in 2004. He was a member of the Spencer First Church of the Nazarene where he drove the church bus for 18 years.
Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Harris) Coffman; three daughters, Cindy (Steve) Smith of Spencer, Stella (Calvin, Jr.) Gauldin of Ellettsville, and Missy Coffman of Bloomington; a son-in law, John (Tammy) Culler of Bowling Green; two brothers, Lowell Dean (Debbie) Coffman and John Coffman; and a sister Paula Coffman all of Liberty; 12 grandchildren, Stephen Smith, Jessie, Sammie, Nikkie, Katie and Jennie Culler, Kevin Coffman, Keith Haynes, Megan Carbone, Jeremy and Ashley Gauldin and Ricky Coffman; and one great-grandchild, Randy Carbone.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a son Richard “Ricky” Eugene Coffman, a daughter, Teresa Coffman-Culler, two brothers Eugene Coffman and Donald Coffman.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, August 17, 2009 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Revs. Paul Shear and David Warren will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends 11 a.m. until time of service on Monday.
