William “Bud” Newman, 59, of Freedom, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2009, at Bloomington Hospital. He was born January 27, 1950 in Martinsville, IN to John and Dorothy (Moore) Newman. Bud worked in construction. He served in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War. Mr. Newman was a member of Spencer Christian Church, the Spencer VFW, the Coal city American Legion, and a leader for the 4-H Fishing Team.
Bud is survived by his wife, Katherine (Yaeger) Newman of Freedom, his father John Newman of Martinsville, six sons Daniel (Stephanie) Newman, Joseph L. Newman, J.J. Newman, all of Freedom, Steven (Samantha) Newman of Poseyville, Dennis (Amy) Newman of Battle Creek, MI, and James(Angie) Newman of Lansing, MI, two brothers Danny Newman of Martinsville, and Jim Newman of Indianapolis, and a sister Luann Fletcher of Martinsville.
He is preceded in death by his mother and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held 5pm, Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Pastor James Root will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, 3-5pm at the funeral home. Military Rites will be preformed by the Spencer VFW and American Legion. A private family burial will be at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the 4-H Fishing Team.
