William E. “Jimmy” Ranard, 79 of Spencer, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Owen Valley Health Campus. He was born March 9, 1930 in Owen County to Ralph R. and Bonnie Mildred (Nash) Ranard. Jimmy attended school at the Indianapolis Blind School. He lived and worked odd jobs at the Owen County Home for 30 years until it closed. He attended the Spencer Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Jimmy is survived by an aunt, Annabell Corder of Spencer, an uncle, Robert “Pete” Ranard of Stinesville, good friends Linda and Dale Burris of Freedom, and several cousins including Mary Ferry and Sonny Nash both of Florida.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ralph Ranard, Jr. and a sister, Margaret Ranard.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. until time of service. A graveside service will follow at Valhalla Cemetery in Bloomington at 2:30 p.m.
