| Virginia Maxine Crall, age 92, of Albia passed away Tuesday February 1, 2011 at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia.
Virginia was born January 21, 1919 to Esther and Mina (Boston) Staggs in Unionville, Missouri. Mina later married George Long and they lived in Albia. Virginia attended grade school at Cedar County School, and graduated from Albia High School, Class of 1936.
On August 12, 1936 she married Theodore Patrick Crall at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia. They had four children and shared 47 years of marriage, before Theodore passing in 1995.
Virginia was a teacher, she taught at Cedar County School, and also taught in country schools in Monroe County for 10 years. She was a homemaker, and a cook at the Albia Sale Barn and the Albia High School.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society, Home and School Association, Postal Women’s Auxiliary, and hosted a rosary group in her home. Throughout her life she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, playing cards, collecting bells and dolls, taking bus trips, babysitting her grandchildren, and mostly visiting with her family.
Virginia is survived by her children, Carole Mathes and her husband Perry of Jefferson City, MO, Vincent Crall and his wife Rita of Albia, Dennis Crall and his wife Sherry of Altoona, and Kathleen Goff of Jacksonville, FL; 7 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. Virginia is also survived by 2 sister-in-laws, Elizabeth Biros of Johnston, and Helen Flattery of Colfax.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Theodore Crall; an infant brother, Percy Staggs; a sister, Marjorie Schwiesow, and a granddaughter, Mindy Mossman.
